  • Overview

    This is a position in our Tucson Residential program working with adults and/or children in group facilities. The Residential Behavior Coach provides direct care and supervision of clients in the residential setting and in the community while implementing Intermountain’s applied behavioral program.

    Responsibilities

    • Reports to assigned site/client(s) as scheduled; follows agency attendance policies; submits accurate record of hours worked on a weekly basis.
    • Attends to client’s physical and/or self-care needs, to include rendering emergency aid; safeguards client rights, including reporting of abuse when required
    • Implements ABC treatment plans, including acquisition skills, replacement skills, and deceleration skills; safety/crisis plans and crisis management techniques; utilize interventions based on Positive Behavioral Support
    • Collects and completes reliable individualized data, including ongoing behavior tracking data and required daily reports; Completes data collection from point sheets and behavior data sheets
    • Conducts individual counseling and groups; conducts medication training for clients
    • Adheres to all licensing requirements for the site/program/agency.
    • Transports clients to locations in the community, such as doctor appointments or recreational activities, using a motor vehicle. Maintains ADOT required vehicle documentation. Maintains cleanliness and maintenance protocols for agency vehicles.
    • Follows agency purchasing and accounting procedures.
    • Maintains cleanliness of, and follows maintenance protocols for, the residential site
    • Follows medication protocols, including documentation, observation of self-administration; blood borne pathogens precautions; and medication counts
    • Plans, shops for and prepares nutritious meals for clients; teaches and assists clients in the processes
    • Regularly observes clients at the site, or in the community, to ensure their safety, and appropriate participation in program activities; conducts regular alarm checks
    • Completes incident reports and communication log; completes assigned filing and file audits.
    • Attends CFT’s and ART’s as assigned; attends regularly scheduled House Meetings (1/wk.), All Staff Meetings (1/mo.), and other meetings as required.
    • Completes all training required by licensing and/or agency, or as requested by supervisor

    Qualifications

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS


    Education/Experience -

    • BHT - Bachelor’s degree in a field related to behavioral health; prior related work experience preferred, or any bachelor’s degree with at least one year of verifiable work experience in a behavioral health or related setting.
    • BHPP – Associates degree in a field related to behavioral health preferred, with at least one year of verifiable work experience in a behavioral health setting required, or HS/GED and at least three years of verifiable work experience in a behavioral health setting required.


    Legal Requirements -

         21 years of age
         Arizona Driver’s License and 39-month driving record that meets insurance requirements;
         Eligible for DPS Level I fingerprint clearance
         CPR, First Aid , and Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification (ICHD provides training)
         Physical examination report including a current negative TB test result (ICHD provides)

     

    OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

     

    Computer literacy -

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems, Word and Outlook applications; prior experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.

    • Adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential or outdoor environment, including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard or laptop; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Ability to drive a vehicle.  
    • Emergency Safety Response: Ability to competently and safely implement verbal and physical components of Crisis Intervention training (CPI)
    • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
    • Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
