The HR Intern is able to observe and be observed directly by an HR Generalist or HR Director for healthcare benefits system management.
Observes New Employee Orientation (NEO) benefits review.
Observes electronic benefits file management on Navigator Employee Self Service (ESS) software; Microsoft Dynamics GP HRIS/payroll system and internal shared drive folder.
Under the direct observation of an HR Generalist, checks enrollment status, processes enrollments, compiles reports, and processes terminations in the application.
Observes and then participates in benefits premium audits with HR Generalist and Payroll Administrator.
Observes and assists with invoice reconciliation for benefits.
Observes processes, participates in discussions regarding, and compiles information for ACA reporting.
Becomes familiar with Summary Plan Descriptions for various benefits, and is able to discuss eligibility requirements, qualifying events and basics of how a Health Savings Account (HSA) works in conjunction with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
Participates in discussions regarding HR best practices, State and Federal regulations and laws related to healthcare benefits.
High school/GED Diploma required
Current enrollment in a higher education program related to Human Resource management.
Experience – Prior work experience in an office setting preferred.
18 years of age
Current negative TB test result (less than 6 months).
